Had to do it… Barbie Book TAG

I saw this going around in insta, and there’s a ton of them all different. I decided to choose this type and add some more to it.

I loved barbies as a kid and I still have some of my old ones. I never expected we would have a live action tho. And I can say I’m excited. I would totally go see it, except my fiancée is not that much into it. So I’ll wait for it to be released in a screening service.

SO, let’s get started!

Barbie: A book you always recommend

The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas!

I love this book with all my heart. It’s my favorite classic and a favorite book and I couldn’t recommend it enough.

I don’t read too many classics unfortunately, but there’s some that are really worth it and this is one of them!

If you don’t want to commit to it, there’s always the Manga Classic of it, and you get to see the story in a fast paced way.

Mermaid Barbie: A fantasy book that you can’t forget about

Strange the Dreamer by Lain Taylor!

I love this book, actually I love anything by Laini Taylor. Her books are amazing and this in particular has a beautiful world and beautiful characters and a beautiful plot. Did I say beautiful too many times? Well, it’s true.

I need more books by her asap. She just has a way of telling stories and transport you to the world.

I’ve read it for a while now and I still remember the story like it was yesterday, that’s when I know I loved it.

Lawyer Barbie: A book that you defend no matter what

Twilight by Stephenie Meyer!

I know this is not the greatest literature, but it is so much fun!

How can anyone deny that?

It’s a series I don’t even mind re-reading and it was one of the first vampire novels I ever read so it holds a special place in my heart.

Doctor Barbie: A book in which you though it might need a doctor

A Court of Thrones and Roses by Sarah J. Mass.

Well, this one more than a doctor needs a psychiatrist.

This book is totally messed up, our MCs are totally messed up. One has anger problems, the other is a wilting flower who is supposed to be oh-so-strong.

That said, I really liked this series, but for sure, a doctor wouldn’t be a bad idea and that goes for the whole series!

Traveling Barbie: A book that you would like to visit

There is a ton of them really, but I’ll go with Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor.

I absolutely adore this world. These books are phenomenal, and this is the second book by the author I include here, so it’s for sure an author you gotta check out, if you haven’t yet.

This is set in our world in Prague, which I want to visit, but it has another world that lives alongside ours.

Just, read this please.

Fashion Barbie: A book with a beautiful cover

I feel like nowadays covers are getting better and better. This is one of them! Six Crimson Cranes by Elizabeth Lim is beautiful and so is the sequel.

I mean, look at that!

I love the color scheme especially. I’m in love with pastel colors and there’s not many like this (I believe).

I also really like graphic-y type of covers, I don’t know the name, but can you tell what I mean? They are comic-y. Like the majority of covers now.

I have yet to read this book.

Astronaut Barbie: A book with a plot twist that took you to other world

Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier was amazing!

I did not see that end coming. Also it’s super eerie and spooky in a way. The cover gives absolutely nothing away.

Nothing is as it seems in this book and you just want to know more and more.

It will take you to a whole different world with all the twist, morally grey characters and a gothic atmosphere!

Librarian Barbie: first book you read because you wanted to for fun

The first book I read (in English) for fun would be Fruits Basket by Natsuke Takaya.

Back then, my English was not the best and manga was just easy and a safe space for me.

This was my first and one of my favorites till this day. It’s such a beautiful story! And it has some amazing characters too. The concept tho, it’s what sold it to me.

Each person from the Sohma family is cursed with an animal from the zodiac and if they for example hug someone from the opposite sex, they turn into said animal.

Engineer Barbie: A book with a scientific main character

I had a ton for this, example: Ali Azelwood.

But I had to go with a cute one that is not as known. My Mechanical Romance by Alexene Farol Follmuth is an adorable book focusing on a robot club at a high school. They actually build robots, so engineering, right?

Anyway, the robots are built for fighting in tournaments. It’s super cool and the romance in it was also adorable.

It is quite young feeling, but not too much, that even I was able to enjoy. And believe me, I’ve been having troubles with that.

Disabled Babrie: A book with a disabled character

I chose Perfect World by Aruga Rice, which is an amazing manga series, because I don’t know many books with physically disabled characters and I wanted to match the Barbie.

I read this as an ARC and loved it, I need to continue the series and I definitely need to own it.

I know many books featuring disabilities but wheelchair users? Not many.

Definitely check it out if you like manga and some rare representations.

Plus Size Barbie: A book with plus size representation

There’s many plus size reps nowadays but this one was one of the first ones I read and I really liked it.

Leah on the Offbeat by Becky Albertalli is a really good book to start on reading more diverse characters.

There’s many other like Dumpling and One Last Stop and so on… Which are worthy reads, but this one was extra cute! Maybe because I love the setting of this series.

This post could go on and on, that’s how many barbies we have nowadays. There’s a lot of rep, like tall, petite, autistic, different races, also different jobs and all kinds of barbies really. If you want a barbie to represent you, you got it.

This concludes this post. It’s a bit cheesy but I had lot of fun doing it, and hopefully it will be fun to read too.

If you try it out, post it in my comment section!

Have a nice day, and if you are going to see the movie, enjoy! x
