One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston – Review

One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston

Genres: YA, LGBT, Contemporary
Pages: 422
Format: Paperback

From the New York Times bestselling author of Red, White & Royal Blue comes a new romantic comedy that will stop readers in their tracks…

For cynical twenty-three-year-old August, moving to New York City is supposed to prove her right: that things like magic and cinematic love stories don’t exist, and the only smart way to go through life is alone. She can’t imagine how waiting tables at a 24-hour pancake diner and moving in with too many weird roommates could possibly change that. And there’s certainly no chance of her subway commute being anything more than a daily trudge through boredom and electrical failures.

But then, there’s this gorgeous girl on the train.

Jane. Dazzling, charming, mysterious, impossible Jane. Jane with her rough edges and swoopy hair and soft smile, showing up in a leather jacket to save August’s day when she needed it most. August’s subway crush becomes the best part of her day, but pretty soon, she discovers there’s one big problem: Jane doesn’t just look like an old school punk rocker. She’s literally displaced in time from the 1970s, and August is going to have to use everything she tried to leave in her own past to help her. Maybe it’s time to start believing in some things, after all.

Casey McQuiston’s One Last Stop is a magical, sexy, big-hearted romance where the impossible becomes possible as August does everything in her power to save the girl lost in time.

This is the story of a 23yr bisexual girl named August. She hasn’t had the most normal of childhoods and recently moved from another state and another university to an all-kinds of a new life – as in, new university, new rented room, new friends in New York. She tires and tries to find herself, after all her life being passed helping her mom solve a case from the 70s. And this time it might be just right. She feels that this time she might just belong.

If you want to check out what this box included, just keep reading! I will show photos of all the items, information on them and some of my thoughts!

Cas Lowood has inherited an unusual vocation: He kills the dead.

So did his father before him, until he was gruesomely murdered by a ghost he sought to kill. Now, armed with his father’s mysterious and deadly athame, Cas travels the country with his kitchen-witch mother and their spirit-sniffing cat. They follow legends and local lore, destroy the murderous dead, and keep pesky things like the future and friends at bay.

Searching for a ghost the locals call Anna Dressed in Blood, Cas expects the usual: track, hunt, kill. What he finds instead is a girl entangled in curses and rage, a ghost like he’s never faced before. She still wears the dress she wore on the day of her brutal murder in 1958: once white, now stained red and dripping with blood. Since her death, Anna has killed any and every person who has dared to step into the deserted Victorian she used to call home.

Yet she spares Cas’s life.

Theseus Cassio Lowood aka Cas is a ghost hunter. When he was young his father was killed by a ghost while hunting it. Since then, Cas took his father’s job and made it his own, killing with the athame knife all his ancestors killed with.

Cas and his mom are used to moving all over the place for the next ghost stop, and this time that ghost is Anna Korlov – a ghost who has been murdering anyone that enters her house.

Cas soon realises Anna is not like the others and it will take more than himself to be able to do his job.
