June Wrap-up And July TBR

IMG_5831.jpg

Hey guys!! So, this month I read 6 books. I started one more but haven’t finished it yet…

It was a nice month since I manage to pick some books that I was dying to read, and some that wore in my Summer reading list.

– You can check my page: https://bookneeders.wordpress.com/my-2016-reads/ for more information about all the books I read through the year; and about the books themselves through the links to Goodreads!

So, for books I read:

18193187  22740196  22753693  9460487

23164983  24120519

From all of this, I have to pick 2 favorites. The House of Hades!! It’s was truly amazing!! Unfortunately I can’t say the same about The Blood of Olympus since half of the book I felt really bored, as I posted in my Review. I also loved SO SO MUCH Miss Peregrine’s Peculiar Children series!! I read some bad reviews on it so I was a afraid I was not going to like, but I loved it!! I loved them all so much and I can’t really decide which one I love the most, but I loved how the story developed, is just so beautiful and I was so NOT expecting it to be like this! It’s lovely!

Also I have reviews for all of this/ coming up, so make sure you check them out!!❤

For my July TBR I’m not very sure since I will be traveling and I don’t know what books more I will have with me yet, but I am aiming to read at least this ones:

17453983  62291  22247695  9627755

(Anna and the French Kiss I started in the end of June and A Storm of Swords I started before but I am taking my time (a LOOOT of time >.<), but I will for sure end it this month!)

This month I am super excited to read Anna and the French Kiss since I heard so much about it all over the internet! I will for sure try to end the trilogy but will see!

These are the ones, I know for sure I intend to read this month, since I am traveling a bit, but I hope I can pick some more up but I don’t know yet with ones!

QOTD: What was your favorite read of June and also… What are you most excited to read in July??

The House of Hades is the fourth book in the bestselling Heroes of Olympus series, set in the action-packed world of Percy Jackson.

The stakes have never been higher. If Percy Jackson and Annabeth fail in their quest, there’ll be hell on Earth. Literally.

Wandering the deadly realm of Tartarus, every step leads them further into danger. And, if by some miracle they do make it to the Doors of Death, there’s a legion of bloodthirsty monsters waiting for them.

Meanwhile, Hazel and the crew of the Argo II have a choice: to stop a war or save their friends. Whichever road they take one thing is certain – in the Underworld, evil is inescapable.

captura-de-ecra-2016-10-19-as-22-16-45

I loved The Mark of Athena, but this one?! O M G, it was amazing!!!
I think this may be my favourite one so far!

I loved the action that this book had a lot more than in the others but even with all the action, you got to know all the characters better! Like coach Hedge, Nico, Frank, … And some new gods and monsters, like Bob the Titan, that I really liked.

Also, I loved to read separately about all the characters and their points of view, especially Percy and Annabeth; The description of Tartarus was so realistically cool and creepy!

I loved in this book the way they used their powers, and how they passed all difficulties till the end.

I loved the funny moments, the creepy moments, the stress moments, the heartbreaking moments, I loved everything about this book!

!WARNING: SPOILERS ahead!!

The Central idea

“DURING THE THIRD ATTACK, Hazel almost ate a boulder.”

So from the last book, Rick Riordan surprised us with a massive cliff-hanger, and this starts with a lot of excitement, but not from when Annabeth and Percy fall into Tartarus, like I was expecting, but soon enough we have that!

We follow the book from the perspective of each person going to the House of Hades, and from the perspective of Annabeth and Percy in Tartarus.

They are still trying to figure out some parts of the prophecy but at least they know where they have to go. Both groups have to arrive to each of the doors and destroy the connection to that place, for them to move and for Thanatos to be able to control them.

The main characters

Percy

“I appreciate the offer” he said. “But my mom told me not to accept curses from strangers”

I loved to see Percy and Annabeth together in this book, it was so special!! And I love his sense of humor!

Annabeth

Tartarus swallowed Titans and demigods and kittens indiscriminately

The way Annabeth used her brain in this book (and the last one) shows how she has grown up, I loved how she fights and tricks the monsters! She is so awesome!!

Hazel

“EVERYTHING SMELLED LIKE POISON. Two days after leaving Venice, Hazel still couldn’t get the noxious scent of eau de cow monster out of her nose.

Hazel was crucial in this book, she was amazing! She has such cool powers and now even more! I loved the power of the Mist!

Frank

“Stupid, Fai Zhang! she would probably scold. If all your friends were drinking poison, would you do it too? Frank went last. The taste of the green liquid”

Frank. He was awesome!! He had really grown up a lot in this book (literally), now you can see him as true son of Mars, but still with the same soft heart he had.

Leo

“Where to?” Jason asked. Leo stared at him. “Well, I dunno. Let me pull my dwarf-tracking GPS out of my tool belt.… Oh, wait! I don’t have a dwarf-tracking GPS—or my tool belt!”

AHH Leo is amazing! He has a super good humor, he can always make me laugh, but he is not the same Leo he was before. You can also see a change in him, everybody could, but to know what it was is so cute!! I loved that part!

Piper

“Maybe love was no match for ice…but Piper had used it to wake a metal dragon. Mortals did superhuman feats in the name of love all the time. (…)
The ice melted on her blade. Her arm steamed under Khione’s grip.
‘Still underestimating me,’ Piper told the goddess. ‘You really need to work on that.”

Piper grew her confidence, she doesn’t feel useless anymore, she has more power and Hazel as a friend that is helping her with her skills in battle. Also it’s pretty funny how she uses her charmspeak 😛

Jason

Love is on every side, Cupid said. And no one’s side. Don’t ask what Love can do for you.
“Great,” Jason said. “Now he’s spouting greeting card messages.”

I didn’t see that much of Jason as the others, but I don’t see him as superman anymore and much more like a hero as his friends.

Nico

“Nico, I’ve seen a lot of brave things. But what you just did? That was maybe the bravest.”

Nico… What can I say, I WAS NOT EXPECTING THAT.

Bob / Iapetus

“Tell the sun and stars hello for me.”

I just had to had this, he is the cutest Titan ever! I loved to know him…But it was so sad!! I hope he appears in the next book… (sigh)

Plot Development

This book was awesomely good, it had a lot of action, that was super fun, with this one I didn’t feel like it had any boring moments. And I loved the fact that it was divided; Tartarus and the way to the doors.

Setting

I loved the beginning when they where going to Tartarus, that it took days, I felt it more realistic otherwise why wouldn’t they come out easily?!  My favorite part was to see Tartarus, and all the places inside, it was amazing!

Things I Liked

  • Percy and Annabeth together.
  • I loved to know the characters more, and to see them growing up.
  • A lot of action and cool difficulties in their path.
  • I loved to see Tartarus

Things I Didn’t Like

✘ I LOVED THE BOOK, there was nothing I didn’t like that much, but I felt so sad with Bob (Titan) and Damasen (Giant)!

Final Words

My favorite book so far, it was fully amazing! These books are amazing and they just keep getting better, now let’s see how it all ends!

Top 10 Books on my Summer Reading List

IMG_20160608_225850_413.jpg

Summer is here (well kind of, right?), school is done, you have no more worries for some time in that department!

Since my birthday is tomorrow, I kind of made a selection of books to FOR SURE read this Summer. So because of that, I am choosing books that I asked / bought for my birthday or books that I already owned, that I have been wanted to read but that are always being held back, because new books come in the way (and I get to excited! Common problem right?).

Also, for my birthday I prioritized books that I already own some of the collection, and that I want to continue, but I didn’t had; or ones that I wanted for to long. So basically I want to end the collections I already own before starting new ones, to save some re-readings, since some will already happen! And because I wanted to start reading some contemporaries, that I don’t own much. (There is always some exceptions because of my birthday where I can’t hold myself :P)

So, finally the List:

17453983

1. Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins

Starting well, we have the first exception… It’s a birthday present. But I’ve been wanting to read this book ever since I’ve heard of it, so… It’s okay right? :D. I’ve heard lots of great things about it, and plus its a contemporary!

22247695

2. Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins

Of course I will continue with the series!… Another book I heard so much about… People love this books, and I just keep seeing them appear over and over in videos, in posts,… everywhere! I NEED to read them. You need to read them.

9627755.jpg

3. Isla and the Happily Ever After  by Stephanie Perkins

So pretty much same thing has #2, but in this one I am putting all my hopes! I really hope I love this books has much as everyone, and especially that the last one will be good if not the best! Because it’s the one people most say its amazing, and it’s supposedly where all the girls appear.

13206828

4. Cress by Marissa Meyer

I read Cinder and Scarlet early this year, but ever since I haven’t had opportunity to buy the rest of the series since I can’t buy them in my country easily (sigh) So finally I will have them and continue this amazing series!

13206900.jpg

5. Winter by Marissa Meyer

Winter.. I have so many hopes for this one!! In one side I don’t want to end this series but for other side, I want so much to see finally what will happen!! And to know more about the characters and that amazing world/ worlds!!

22753693

6. The Storm by Virginia Bergin

Another book that I have read the previous one this year and that I wanted to continue. This one is only a duology and I really want to know what happens next, since it’s a apocalyptic book! >.<

9460487

7. Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs

I wanted to read this for so long! And a movie is coming up, where the trailer is awesome, and the director of the movie is the amazing Tim Burton. How could I not ask this for my birthday?! So for sure I am super much wanting to read this book since it came out!

23164983.jpg

8. Hollow City by Ransom Riggs

Like I said, I will totally make sure I end the collections I start. Since I actually have the books, and since I so much wanted to have them. I am pumped up to read them super badly! hihi

24120519

9. Library of Souls by Ransom Riggs

The last book. Pretty much #8 I have absolutely no idea where this series will go with the end, or the middle or anything really… But don’t they seem amazing??? Hopefully they will be!

18635016

10. The One by Kiera Cass

Finally!!!! I read The Selection and The Elite aeons ago!! And I haven’t found yet till now The One, but finally I will read it! And I am so happy about it, because supposedly will kinda end the part I already read (and that I intend to re-read just to make sure I remember, that for sure I don’t, at least half), since The Heir is passed years afterwords.

So, that was my top 10 books for my summer! Hopefully I’ll get to read them all and also start/finish some series. Hopefully?! Nah, I will for sure read all of this and start/finish some series!

QOTD: Have you read any of this books? And… What books are on your top reading list for this summer?

Can Percy Jackson and the Half-blood Heroes succeed on their quest to find The Doors of Death or will the Greek Gods of chaos win their battle to stop them? Percy and his fellow demi-gods face the most important quest of all – the Prophecy of Seva.

captura-de-ecra-2016-10-19-as-22-16-45

SO FAR, THIS IS MY FAVORITE BOOK (of the two series, Percy Jackson and Heroes of Olympus)!

The Greek and Roman demigods join together to try to save the world from Gaia’s awakening. I love having the whole group of 7 together. They are an amazing group representing each a different godly family (Poseidon, Athena, Mars, Pluto, Aphrodite, Jupiter and Hephaestus) + Nico in this book that represents Hades (Pluto).

They are all so different, and you can really see that in the beginning of the book but I feel that in the end they really come together as team despite what camp they represent.

There is more romance in this book between Percy and Annabeth but just a cute feeling nothing too much. Piper and Jason don’t have much moments together but they are still adorable! Than there is Hazel and Frank that are super cute but had a lot of things in the middle, like Leo 😛 I love Leo, he is awesome, but not with Hazel…

The gods don’t appear much for now, just tiny bits, not enough.

It developed slowly with tiny things for them to get through and only in the last pages we had the big BOOM again, but that was okay. Yet this was the first time it ended like this… I won’t say more but… WHAT?

I loved the book, it was amazing and I loved to read about them all, I really enjoy this group! And Nico!! Excited for the next one 😀 😀

!WARNING: SPOILERS ahead!!

THE CENTRAL IDEA

This book starts with the arrival of The Greek group to Camp Jupiter in the Argo II.

“Until she met the exploding statue, Annabeth thought she was prepared for anything.” She’d paced the deck of their flying warship, the Argo II, checking and double-checking the ballistae to make sure they were locked down. She’d confirmed that the white “We came in peace” flag was flying from the mast.

Annabeth sees Percy, for the first time in some months because of Juno. (That was freaking awesome!)

Annabeth put her knee on Percy’s chest. She pushed her forearm against his throat. She didn’t care what the Romans thought. A white-hot lump of anger expanded in her chest—a tumor of worry and bitterness that she’d been carrying around since last autumn. “If you ever leave me again,” she said, her eyes stinging, “I swear to all the gods—” Percy had the nerve to laugh. Suddenly the lump of heated emotions melted inside Annabeth. “Consider me warned,” Percy said.”

After that it didn’t take much time for things to go wrong … (Don’t they always? :P) After some time in camp Jupiter the group had to run away! So here starts the quest to rescue the Athena Parthenos and Nico!

In this quest they had to do many turns to get things to fix the ship, trying to avoid the Romans and to ask for help from some gods and minor gods. The arriving to Rome was a lot of fun to read about because it’s filled with difficulties set by Gaia.

THE MAIN CHARACTERS

Percy

“Like water leaking through a dam,” said Piper.
“Yeah,” smiled Percy. “We’ve got a dam hole.”
“What?” Piper asked.
“Nothing,” he said. “Inside joke.”

That part made me smile, and think about Zoe and Thalia and all the hunters. Anyway, Percy in this book seemed much more romantic and worried about Annabeth (they are so cute!). As long as they were together everything was okay; and that was so sweet! Also I really think he and Jason make a cool team.

Annabeth

“And this is Annabeth”, Jason said “Uh, normally she doesn’t judo-flip people”

Annabeth path in this book was pretty cool, she had to combat her worse fears; she kinda reminded me of Hermione, in this book you really see Annabeth how she is, fighting mainly with the brains (my favorite part is with the Lares)… Also she had some cute moments with Percy that I really enjoyed to see!

Hazel

“Once the others were below, Hazel and Leo faced each other awkwardly. They were alone except for Coach Hedge, who was back on the quarterdeck singing the Pokémon theme song. The coach had changed the words to: Gotta Kill ’Em All, and Leo really didn’t want to know why.”

It was nice to see how Hazel and Leo stories mix. But it also felt awkward… Also it’s always super funny when someone talks about nowaday things and she looks confused 😛 AHH She is super cute, and I really love her powers.

Frank

Two kids appeared at Percy’s side, the same ones Annabeth had seen him chumming around with earlier. The burly Asian guy with buss cut was about fifteen. He was cute in a sort of oversized-cuddly-panda-bear way.

Frank in the beginning of this book was a bit difficult because of the triangle going on… But I think that in the end they started getting along all together as actual friends, which is great! And I really like to see him with Hazel, more than Leo. Also, I bet he is a cute koi! 😛

Leo

“I try not to think. It interferes with being nuts”

Leo is the funny type always, and thats what it makes him so unique, even if things are bad, he tries to see the good side, or at least cheer up the spirit. He is super cute and almost all his ideas are the craziest things ever… But they are always amazing!

Piper

Piper had a new entry in her top-ten list of Times Piper Felt Useless.

Piper is still to harsh on herself, she is not a super strong type of warrior, but thats the point! Every one of them are different and complement each other. She helped a lot in her own way, even if she didn’t see it. I loved the Hercules part with Piper. Also I love to see her with Jason but I feel that they didn’t had much development.

Jason

“Incredible,” Jason said. “These are really good brownies.”
“That’s your only comment?” Piper demanded.
He looked surprised. “What? I heard the story. Fish-centaurs. Merpeople. Letter of intro to the Tiber River god. Got it. But these brownies—”
“I know,” Frank said, his mouth full. “Try them with Esther’s peach preserves.”
“That,” Hazel said, “is incredibly disgusting.”

Jason is nice and super strong, but he doesn’t show much emotions, except that I always felt miserable during the quest, since he thought he was not doing enough to protect his friends. Also, Jason and Percy have been measuring forces every time they can. But in the end they conjoin them and its amazing!

PLOT DEVELOPMENT

This book was pretty good and with a lot of action, but the main quest started pretty late (again)… But we had time to see a lot of the characters’ history. Also it has a total different end from the others which I liked and was totally not expecting!

SETTING

I loved the trip to Rome and all the difficulties, I loved the underwater camp and the entrance to the Mare Nostrum! Like always they seemed super realistic.

THINGS I LIKED

  • I loved to see the all group in action.
  • I think this book had even more difficulties to get through than the others.
  • I liked how Hercules and Narcissus where explained.
  • I loved how the powers of the seven of them are always needed somehow.

THE THINGS I DIDN’T LIKE

✘ The quest developed super late, but I already got used to since you see so much in the way to the quest, so maybe is not totally a “didn’t like” part.

✘ I know Olympus is closed but still, I miss to see a bit more of the gods.

FINAL WORDS

I loved this book more than any of them at this very moment, and I really wanna read the next one after that cliff-hanger!!

Heroes of Olympus – The Son of Neptune

Author: Rick Riordan

Publisher: Puffin Books

Genres: Young Adult, Fiction, Adventure, Friendship, Children

Pages: 521

Format: Paperback

Buy: Book Depository | Amazon

The SECOND title in this number one, bestselling spin-off series from Percy Jackson creator, Rick Riordan.

This crazy messed up world of gods and monsters is Percy Jackson’s reality, which pretty much sucks for him.

Percy Jackson, son of Poseidon, God of the Sea, has woken from a very deep sleep and come face to face with two snake-haired ladies who refuse to die.

But they’re the least of his problems. Because Percy finds himself at a camp for half-bloods, which doesn’t ring any bells for him. There’s just one name he remembers from his past. Annabeth.

Only one thing is certain – Percy’s questing days aren’t over. He and fellow demigods Frank and Hazel must face the most important quest of all: the Prophecy of Seven. If they fail, it’s not just their camp at risk. Percy’s old life, the gods, and the entire world might be destroyed . . .

captura-de-ecra-2016-10-19-as-22-16-45

Percy finally appeared, but because of the last book, I kinda got attached to the three new characters we were introduced to. I really wanted to read about them some more, but instead we got a couple more new characters (who are also awesome).

I did enjoy more the last book just because I didn’t figure out where the series where going with it, and I don’t like that much about reading about different characters every book. Yes, it will all come together afterwords but still….
This book was still funny and all but the action started in my opinion so late…
Anyway I still loved to know about the characters, they are amazing, the quiz was pretty awesome, and I am really pumped up to read where this is going now! Oh and I love the writing super much!

!WARNING: SPOILERS ahead!!

THE CENTRAL IDEA

This book starts with Percy. Yes, finally!!!

The snake-haired ladies were starting to annoy Percy. they should have died three days ago when he dropped a crate of bowling balls on them at Napa Bargain Mart. hey should have died two day ago when…

well you got the point, Percy is back and in action! before than happened he had kinda the same of Jason.

When he awoke from his long sleep, he didn’t know much more than his name. His brain fuzz is lingering, even after the wolf Lupa told him he is a demigod and trained him to fight with the pen/sword in his pocket. Somehow Percy manages to make it to a camp for half-bloods, despite the fact that he has to keep killing monsters along the way. But the camp doesn’t ring any bells with him. The only thing he can recall from is past is another name: Annabeth.

So he is as amnesic has Jason, and contrary of Jason he goes to camp Jupiter, the Roman Camp. Where I meets Hanzel and Frank literally at the entrance and make friends with them.

Obviously they will go on a quest to save a bit of the world from Gaia, again. And hopefully get back to camp in time to help there and be recognized, because he will of sure need that.

THE MAIN CHARACTERS

Percy

They all ordered massive plates of eggs, pancakes, and reindeer sausage, though Frank looked a little worried about the reindeer. “You think it’s okay that we’re eating Rudolph?”

“Dude,” Percy said, “I could eat Prancer and Blitzen, too. I’m hungry.”

Same old Percy right?! his part was so funny!! Haha (I just had to include this here). So Percy really makes friends in this camp, especially Hazel and Frank, who will help him not only here but in the adventures that are to come.

Hazel

“You speak horse?” Hazel asked.
“Speaking to horses is a Poseidon thing,” Percy said. “Uh, I mean a Neptune thing.”
“Then you and Arion should get along fine,” Hazel said. “He’s a son of Neptune too.”
Percy turned pale. “Excuse me?”

Hazel, the daughter of Pluto, form some centuries ago 😛 Hanzel was supposed to be dead. But her brother Nico brought her back! (that Nico!) She is amazing!! But, she has a curse, overtime she fells a bit more emotional, valuable rocks pop up from the earth… But is that still a curse?

Frank

Frank shook is head. He was no prince or hero. He was a lactose-intolerant klutz, who couldn’t even protect his friend from getting kidnapped by wheat.

Oh no. He is so much more than that. He is Chinese, Canadian, … No really,  he can be anything! And plus he is super cute with Hazel!! And a really good friend. I liked to see how much he developed since the beginning of the book till the end.

—-

Also, I liked super much to know a bit of some gods, for example Mars is pretty cool, more than Ares in my opinion

“There!” Mars finished writing and threw the scroll at Octavian. “A prophecy. You can add it to your books, engrave it on your floor, whatever.”
Octavian read the scroll. “This says, ‘Go to Alaska. Find Thanatos and free him. Come back by sundown on June twenty-fourth or die.’”
“Yes,” Mars said. “Is that not clear?”

And also Iris, I was totally not expecting the ROFL… And she is pretty cool!! Kind of hippie style 😛

Always eating junk food and heroes. They’re so unenlightened. I couldn’t them tromping through my store, tearing up things and disturbing my feng shui.

Also we meet Ella. She is so cute and intelligent.

‘Cinnamon rolls are good for harpies,’ she said. ‘June twenty-forth is a good day. Roy Disney’s birthday, and Fortuna’s Feast, and Independence Day for Zanzibar. And Tyson.’

PLOT DEVELOPMENT

This book was pretty good, but the quest started pretty late… But we had time to see a lot of the characters history.

SETTING

I loved how Alaska is introduced, and the roman camp, and I loved how realistic it all seemed. Also,  Hazel’s new horse Arion, the fastest of the planet, he made it seem pretty realistic, since from Alaska to San Francisco it took 4 hours and not like 2 minutes.

THINGS I LIKED

  • Percy Jackson happened.
  • New Characters: Haze and Frank especially.
  • You get to know a bit more of some gods
  • Tyson and Ella

THE THINGS I DIDN’T LIKE

✘ The quest developed super late.

FINAL WORDS

I loved this book still, and I am really intrigued for the next one since is the mark of ATHENA.

OLD ENEMIES AWAKEN AS CAMP HALF-BLOOD’S NEW ARRIVALS PREPARE FOR WAR
When Jason, Piper and Leo crash land at Camp Half-Blood, they have no idea what to expect. Apparently this is the only safe place for children of the Greek Gods – despite the monsters roaming the woods and demigods practising archery with flaming arrows and explosives. But rumours of a terrible curse – and a missing hero – are flying around camp. It seems Jason, Piper and Leo are the chosen ones to embark on a terrifying new quest, which they must complete by the winter solstice. In just four days time. Can the trio succeed on this deadly mission – and what must they sacrifice in order to survive?

captura-de-ecra-2016-10-19-as-22-16-45

I enjoyed this even more than Percy Jackson books!

Starting with the writing (that I already loved), this one is less simple I guess… and I didn’t find those moments were he used to tell again some moments (like a reminder) that I really disliked but, I do understand since Percy is a middle grade book, but what I want to say is that I am glad it doesn’t happen here (at least till now), and I don’t think it will, at least with so much frequency.

Comparing the story to Percy Jackson… I love both, just in different ways. I feel that Percy Jackson is amazing but much more simple than this one(s).

I loved the fact the we moved to “another” series with new main characters (that are awesome) without losing some of the old ones.

The way Rick Riordan mixes Greek and Roman mythologies is just amazing! And is still credible like it was in Percy Jackson. It just seems so possible, doesn’t it?!

For sure the book got me super excited from beginning to end!
Excited to continue the rest of the series!!!

!WARNING: SPOILERS ahead!!

THE CENTRAL IDEA

This book starts with Jason. Who is Jason? Well…

Even before he got electrocuted, Jason was having a rotten day.

He woke in the backseat of a school bus, not sure where he was, holding hands with a girl he didn’t know. That wasn’t necessarily the rotten part. The girl was cute, but he couldn’t figure out who she was or what he was doing there. He sat up and rubbed his eyes, trying to think.

A few dozen kids sprawled in the seats in front of him, listening to iPods, talking, or sleeping. They all looked around his age…fifteen? Sixteen? Okay, that was scary. He didn’t know his own age.

So yeah, that’s Jason!

His friends, Piper and Leo remembered him, but he didn’t. Did they really remember? Was it all a play? He didn’t know, and neither did they.

Then weird things started happening we noticed that his coach didn’t know him, but he said that he was waiting for him, because maybe he  was the special package that was joining to the other two.

Jason was even more confused! But soon they started being attacked by their own colleague (not a very nice one) but wait! of course… He was a monster! And his friends.

And it all started again in a very amazing way!

THE MAIN CHARACTERS

Jason

“Please excuse Jason from eternal damnation. He has had amnesia.”

Jason is amazing! He is the most powerful demigod until now, maybe even more than Percy(?) Just maybe… Soon to tell, but he is amazing!!

Although he doesn’t know Piper and Leo for real, he really protects and seems a true friend to them! And that is just lovely because since afterwards he knew he didn’t know them and it was the mist, he could have acted different and he did not.

Piper

“Piper patted his shoulder. “Trust me, Valdez. Beautiful people never lie.”

Piper at first saw her as weak. But I changed my opinion very fast 😛 She was just a spooked girl, that was torn between saving his dad and his friends. She just couldn’t betray them. She is lovely in her own way, and you can see a big development in her character in just this book! I just love her!

Oh and that “charmspeaking power” is amazing stuff!

Leo

“Vulcan?” Leo demanded. “I don’t even LIKE Star Trek!”

Leo… Ah leo, he is the funny type. He is just amazing!!

He uses his humor to cover his feelings, he is extremely powerful and a handyman 😛 He can build anything, just like his mother and of course daddy god. He had a hard life and still he is an amazing person! What happened to him, could have changed him to a very bad person but instead he is lovely!

Ah and he build Festus, the Happy Dragon. I laugh so much in this part looking at the cover and to the name hahah

PLOT DEVELOPMENT

This book has no dull moments, literally NADA. I felt that its such a powerful, fun, fantastic book! And with so much juice! 😉

SETTING

I LOVED how he brought together Greek and Roman Mythologies! I think it will turn things so exciting (has they are already now)!!

THE WRITING

I am a big fan of the writing, especially with this book. It’s so much more juicy and complex comparing to Percy.

THINGS I LIKED

✔ It’s still Percy Jacksonworld and with some of the characters!

✔ New Characters: Jason, Piper and Leo

✔ You get to know a lot, the character

✔ The Quest was awesome since we didn’t knew any of the characters

✔ Roman Mythologies

✔ The romance is still subtle and cute

✔ I looove the glossary of the gods at the end of the book

THE THINGS I DIDN’T LIKE

✘ There was a lot of character development so the quest was in the middle and mainly in the end of the book

FINAL WORDS

If you like Percy Jackson you will love this!! Is just amazing and powerful and once again you have fun reading and you learn a lot!

It’s in the rain…and just one drop will kill you.

They don’t believe it at first. Crowded in Zach’s kitchen, Ruby and the rest of the partygoers laugh at Zach’s parents’ frenzied push to get them all inside as it starts to drizzle. But then the radio comes on with the warning, “It’s in the rain! It’s fatal, it’s contagious, and there’s no cure.”

Two weeks later, Ruby is alone. Anyone who’s been touched by rain or washed their hands with tap water is dead. The only drinkable water is quickly running out. Ruby’s only chance for survival is a treacherous hike across the country to find her father-if he’s even still alive.

AHH I was super excited to start reading this book!

So, The Rain or H2O is an apocalyptic thriller centering around the premise of deadly rain.

But… When I started reading, I guess I was not expecting “Ruby”… She just.. Argh! … She is a mean girl, popular in her high school, selfish and childish, which causes her to just miss what is actually important …she has no self preservation whatsoever! But, she is realistic. She just turned 15 and for sure she is not mature and the rain didn’t suddenly make her smarter, more likable, or brave. She does have some very good qualities in her (and she can be a nice person in her own way), and she also realizes some mistakes she has made along the way. It’s definitely a love/hate situation with her.

I loved the concept of the killer rain, and I got immersed in the world. The panic and the lack of information passed to the society made it seem very realistic. I always get drawn to kind of apocalyptic books, but this one is, is just wow for me. Rain that kills you, is just… creepy and genius.

(There was one thing that I just didn’t make sense for me… Why does the rain only affect people? Not animals? Doesn’t make much sense to me…)

Also, I should point out, that the writing at first was a bit difficult to get into in the first 50 pages, but you get used to that fast!

But in the end I really liked this book and I am for sure picking up the last book! This book provokes a rollercoaster of emotions, sadness, anger, thirst, panic, stress and hope.
