MOST PEOPLE GET PRESENTS ON THEIR SIXTEENTH BIRTHDAY, I GET A PROPHECY THAT COULD SAVE OR DESTROY THE WORLD.

It happens when you’re the son of Poseidon, God of the Sea. According to an ancient prophecy, I turn sixteen and the fate of the entire world is on me. But no pressure.

Now Kronos, Lord of the Titans, is beginning his attack on New York City. And the dreaded monster Typhon is also heading our way. So it’s me and forty of my demigod friends versus untold evil…

GENERAL THOUGHTS

Wooow! It was damn good!! Plus it has that perfect ending to it!

I love Percy’s wish…, it was just amazing! And that opened a possibility for things to change for the better with everybody! Ahhh it was just perfect!

This book wrapped up this series perfectly and gave hints to what would happen in the Heroes of Olympus series! I definitely have a total girl crush on Annabeth… I’m so glad I finished this series and I can’t wait to start the Heroes of Olympus (which I am anxious to see if the writing changes!)

But what makes me looove this book from the start till the end is that, with the prophecy, you kind of start expecting stuff to happen but they always turn out different! You always get surprised that things happened the way they did!

Never thought I could love so much to read a middle grade book, as I loved to read Percy Jackson! If you haven’t grabbed this series yet, you definitely should!!

!WARNING: review with SPOILERS ahead!!

THE CENTRAL IDEA

The end of the world started when a pegasus landed on the hood of my car. Up until then, I was having a great afternoon.

Yeah the started already pretty much like the others, Percy’s life is nothing but calm right?

So, all year Percy’s camp has been trying to prepare themselves to the big battle against the Titans. But they also know that Kronos’ army is stronger than ever, and he has been gathering some minor gods and demigods on his side, and that makes his power grow.

Kronos made a distraction for Poseidon, he has his own battle, and the other gods have to defeat Typhon, leaving Mount Olympus free.

Percy Jackson and the other demigods have to protect the city and Mount Olympus!

IMPORTANT CHARACTERS

Percy

“I don’t recommend shadow travel if you’re scared of:
a) The dark
b) Cold shivers up your spine
c) Strange noises
d) Going so fast you feel like your face is peeling off
In other words, I thought it was awesome.”

Percy is now as strong as Luck, thanks to Nico’s idea. And he learned some new tricks with Mrs. O’Leary that I thought that were awesome!!

Nico

“With great power… comes great need to take a nap. Wake me up later.”

He turned up to be super strong, more than he already seemed since he is technically a kid… He is so cute ❤

Tyson

“Daddy will explain. Come, he is blowing up monsters.”

He is just so cute, sensible but still powerful (well he is a cyclops…).

Annabeth

“You saved the world,” annabeth said.
“We saved the world.”
“And Rachel is the new Oracle, which means she won’t be dating anybody.”
“You don’t sound disappointed,” I noticed.
Annabeth shrugged. “Oh, I don’t care.”
“Uh-huh.”

Finally!!! I knew it! But I was super afraid for her in one part of the battle, unf… AH I love Annabeth, that’s all I have to say!

Rachel

I really like Rachel, just not with Percy after all that Percy and Annabeth had been through…  And As said in #Annabeth, she turned into the new oracle with is great, because it means I will be able to see more of her in the next books! YEY

Luke

The big villain finally decides he doesn’t see Annabeth has a sister? no, no, no! Don’t even!  … I am super happy how it turned out!

PLOT DEVELOPMENT

This book had a lot of action, like it was almost totally the all book about the battle 😮 But, in the end… Ah that end was just amazing!! Percy, aren’t you romantic??!!

THINGS I LIKED

  • The Romance in the end finally. ❤
  • Luke’s part on the story.
  • Percy’s wish was beautiful and thoughtful.

THE THINGS I DIDN’T LIKE

✘ I haven’t seen Kronos as that powerful, but maybe that’s just me 😛

FINAL WORDS

I love this book! I love this series! I love this world and these characters! And I am super anxious to start the Heroes of Olympus series!!

What was your favorite book ??  – I loved so many of them for so many reasons, but the most difficult choice for me is between the Sea of Monsters and the Battle of the Labyrinth, but probably the Battle of the Labyrinth, since I feel that a lot of characters unite in that book and the labyrinth itself its creepily amazing 😀

HONESTLY, BLOWING UP ANOTHER SCHOOL WAS THE LAST THING I WANTED TO DO.

As the son of a Greek god, I’ve had my share of near-death disaster – and now my arch enemy Luke wants to invade our camp via an ancient Labyrinth.

If he succeeds, thousands of bloodthirsty monsters will attack. So it’s goodbye sunshine, hello darkness as four of us descend into the terrifying underground and beyond…

GENERAL THOUGHTS

This book was definitely amazing!

My favorite is still the Sea of Monsters (because of Tyson) – I think?, but this one…maybe this one?… Ahh  They are to close to each other for me…. I really loved the labyrinth, just because I feel that everyone of my favorite characters was back with Percy again, and it made it awesome!!

There are so many characters in this book.

I know a lot more about Grover in this book And learn more about his god, Pan. Which was interesting. And Tyson. I love him, he is the cutest.

Then there is a newer character, Rachel. She is pretty amazing and she’s just a mortal, yap but not common!

And than there is Nico! I’m still a bit worried about him. But he is so , so cool! He’s so young and cute, but has so much pressure and sadness in him.

Till now, this was the most stressy book of Percy Jackson! So much happen, so creepy and intense! It was amazing!! And that end…. made me super curious to know what will happen in the last book!

!WARNING: review with SPOILERS ahead!!

THE CENTRAL IDEA

The last thing I wanted to do on my summer break was blow up another school

Percy Jackson starts off the new school year by battling a pair of Empousai and blowing up his school. Again. He also runs into Rachel Elizabeth Dare, the mysterious mortal girl who can see through the mist, that he met before.

The ancient Lord Kronos is slowly reforming, aided by Luke and his unearthly army. Kronos’ plan is to invade Camp Half-Blood, raze it to the ground along with it’s heroes and then head off to destroy the Olympians.

Although the camp members were under the impression that Camp Half-Blood was impenetrable, they soon realize that Luke intends to invade it through one of the exits of the famous underground Labyrinth. Percy and gang decide to head into the Labyrinth themselves and discover Daedalus’s (the creator of the Labyrinth) workshop, so that they can find a way to stop the invasion.

The Labyrinth is supposed to be the only piece of architecture that changes constantly. Even the creator Daedalus himself has no control over it. Tunnels change, new ones pop up, traps are laid at the most unexpected places and monsters are lurking just around the corner.

They have to find the God Pan, they have to find Daedalus, and try to stop Kronos army, but for that they need Rachel.

IMPORTANT CHARACTERS

Rachel

“Rachel: You’re a half-blood, too?
Annabeth: Shhh! Just announce it to the world, how about?
Rachel: Okay. Hey, everybody! These two aren’t human! They’re half Greek god!…They don’t seem to care.”

A super cool mortal girl!! Yes, a mortal girl just like Percy’s mom, she can see through the mist, and she is extremely curious instead of afraid!

Poseidon

“I couldn’t miss Percy’s fifteenth birthday,” Poseidon said. “Why, if this were Sparta, Percy would be a man today!”
“That’s true,” Paul said. “I used to teach ancient history.”
Poseidon’s eyes twinkled. “That’s me. Ancient history.”

I just had to had him, that part was so sweet!

Percy

“New lesson, class. Most monsters will vaporize when sliced with a celestial bronze sword. This change is perfectly normal, and will happen to you right now if you don’t BACK OFF!” – Percy”

Percy is just Percy. Awesome as always!

—-

There were a lot more surprises in this book from some characters, that I was not counting on. And Grover seems so grown up in the end of this book!

PLOT DEVELOPMENT

This book had a lot of action, except in the romance department, is that a triangle romance? 😮

SETTING

AHH The Labyrinth was just amazing!! And the way it popped up so fast in the other side of America… I want one of those!

THINGS I LIKED

  • A lot of characters in this book
  • I liked how the story developed, and also the characters.
  • I liked to see more of some goods.

THE THINGS I DIDN’T LIKE

✘ Where is Annabeth and Percy? Starting to worry!

FINAL WORDS

I love this book! It’s amazing! A lot of action, a lot of development and amazing characters!

What’s your favorite greek creature and demigod ??  Mines are probably the hippocampus and Annabeth.

IT’S NOT EVERYDAY YOU FIND YOURSELF IN COMBAT WITH A HALF-LION, HALF-HUMAN.

But when you’re the son of a Greek god, it happens. And now my friend Annabeth is missing, a goddess is in chains and only five half-blood heroes can join the quest to defeat the doomsday monster.

Oh, and guess what? The Oracle has predicted that not all of us will survive…

I finished this book with a smile on my face. They are just the fluffiest ever.
Friendship and family are well marked in this series, especially in this book, and maybe thats way it’s so easy to relate to Percy. They teach some many valuable things to the youngsters, and even to adults! This books have so much more than the awesome mythology that they talk about (where you definitely learn super much)!

In this book I felt very amazed by our God Dionysus. Yes… Mr. D for the first time I thought he might be actually nice… ( I will not say this twice tho :P)

Plus the books are extremely funny in some parts, the writing really makes a lot of difference and this books have a really good writing! It’s impossible not to crack a smile!

I did loved Sea of Monsters a bit more till now (Tysoooon <3), but I loved the new characters in this one! Blackjack is awesome!!

!WARNING: review with SPOILERS ahead!!

THE CENTRAL IDEA

The start of this book is just….

The Friday before winter break, my mom packed me an overnight bag and a few deadly weapons and took me to my new boarding school.

If I would ask my mom to pack me some deadly weapons, I don’t think it would be as funny 😀 HAHAHA

Percy, Annabeth, and Thalia were dropped off by Percy’s mom on their new boarding school, Westover Hall. A creepy looking school where Grover said he was having some difficulties with a monster that was to near catching the two Half-blood that he was protecting .

Well in the way of course they had some troubles and they lost Annabeth.

And before anyone could react, the monster, with Annabeth still on his back, leaped over the cliff and tumbled into the darkness.

Artemis and her hunters came to help them, but they couldn’t get to Annabeth. Percy and the others need to get back to Camp Half Blood to get the Di Angelo kids to safety and find a way to get Annabeth back. (That was not has planned…)

Percy’s wasn’t picked for the quest to save Annabeth, and of course Thalia wasn’t very talkative with him (kids…).

But how could he not go to save Annabeth?! I mean… It would be just impossible… Well, is rebel side finds a way to get to the trip :P.

Of course we can’t forget Luke and Kronos! They are planning the end of Olympus all the time!

IMPORTANT CHARACTERS

Percy

“I couldn’t help thinking about my dream, with Annabeth crumpled and lifeless in Luke’s arms. Here I was rescuing baby monsters, but I couldn’t save my friend.”

Well, Percy was the same old awesome Percy! Nothing much to say… HE IS AMAZING! 😀 But I really liked his adventure since I was not supposedly on the quest.

Thalia

“Wow,” Thalia muttered. “Apollo is hot.”
“He’s the sun god,” I said.
“That’s not what I meant.”

AHHH She is just so annoying sometimes! But I kind of understand sometimes her reactions, but sometimes you just can’t…Argh. But yeah I still kinda like her…

Luke

Ah Luke! He is not a good villain… I can’t be all bad, he jus’t can’t! Not with Annabeth!! It’s just too sad! *Hope I am right…*

Nico

And, whoa!” He turned to Mr.D. “Your the wine dude? No way!”
Mr.D turned hi eyes away from me and gave Nico a look of loathing. “The wine dude?”
“Dionysus, right? Oh, wow! I’ve got your figurine!”
“My figurine.”
“In my game, Mythomagic. And holofoil card, too! And even though you’ve only got like five hundred attack points and everybody thinks your the lamest god card, I totally think your powers are sweet!”
“Ah.” Mr.D seemed truly perplexed, which probably saved my life. “Well, that’s…gratifying.”

He is just a kid in the beginning, and well he is still a kid in the end, but so powerful! He and his sister Bianca are sons of Hades, ahhh is so awesome!!

Zoe

“Let us find the dam snack bar,” Zoe said. “We should eat while we can.”
Grover cracked a smile. “The dam snack bar?”
Zoe blinked. “Yes. What is funny?”
“Nothing,” Grover said, trying to keep a straight face. “I could use some dam french fries.”
Even Thalia smiled at that. “And I need to use the dam restroom.”

A super cool teenager that is a hunter! (old, like totally old teenager… Since you turn mortal when you are a hunter)  She is so adorable! Well, in her own way.

PLOT DEVELOPMENT

I felt that this book was actually very fast paced, with a lot of action but we still learned a lot about some characters.

THINGS I LIKED

✔ I again, loved the new characters. Blackjack, Nico, Zöe, Bianca! It was amazing!

✔ The villains were more harsh in this book (but, Luke :(…)

✔ I liked how the characters weren’t invincible. Yes… This book was more harsh, in a lot of ways… But totally comprehensible (still sad!)

✔Percy’s relationship with his mom is lovely, is just the type of relation you consider perfect but normal you know? They really love each other and that matters the most.

THE THINGS I DIDN’T LIKE

✘ Annabeth was missing a lot in this book, and she is so awesome to read about!

FINAL WORDS

I am starting to obsess about this series! They are just so amazing! And to think that I haven’t read this sooner….

I am loving it so much that I already bought The Heroes of Olympus collection to read after!

YOU CAN’T TELL BY LOOKING AT ME THAT MY DAD IS POSEIDON, GOD OF THE SEA.

It’s not easy being a half-blood these days. Even a simple game of dodgeball becomes a death match against an ugly gang of cannibal giants – and that was only the beginning.

Now Camp Half-Blood is under attack and, unless I can get my hands of the Golden Fleece, the whole camp will be invaded by monsters. Big ones…

This series just keeps getting better and better!

I loved this book so much more!! This was a fast read. Yet so much happened. And not nearly enough. I need to know everything. And I cannot wait to read the rest of the books!!

Like the  Lightning Thief, this book starts with Percy at school, (in the end of the year). A school year has passed and Percy didn’t get kicked out once from this school! Except of course in that last day, that was amazing!

We get to meet Tyson early on in this book. At first I wasn’t sure what to think of him, I was just kind of feeling pity I guess… But then the book moved along and we got to know him more and he saved Percy so many times and I just ended up adoring him. I hope we see more of him soon!! Also, we learn more about the gods in this book and I really liked getting to meet Hermes.

There is a lot more characters in this book which is manly why I loved this one more than the first even!

I love being in the world of Percy Jackson. And this book was so great I loves the characters! Tyson is just a cutsie!!

!WARNING: review with SPOILERS ahead!!

THE CENTRAL IDEA

For the first time in my life, I’d almost made it an entire year without getting expelled. No weird accidents. No fights in the classroom. No teachers turning into monsters and trying to kill me with poisoned cafeteria food or exploding homework.

Seemed that the Gods are giving Percy a break this year right? At least, that’s what he thought… But, no. Percy and Tyson were at gym class when weird things started happening. Again.

All around Matt Sloan, the visitors were growing in size. They were no longer kids. They were eight-foot-tall giants with wild eyes, pointy teeth, and hairy arms tattooed with snakes and hula women and Valentine hearts.

The Gods haven’t forgotten about Percy and someone was messing hap with him again. These creatures called Laistrygonians  (took me some time to put some names in my had, like this one! I just kept saying it wrong… Argh) want to eat him. He tried to fight them off, to protect Tyson and himself of being eaten. Then, out of nowhere, Annabeth came.

Standing in the smoke was my friend Annabeth. Her face was grimy and scratched. She had a ragged backpack slung over her shoulder, her baseball cap tucked in her pocket, a bronze knife in her hand, and a wild look on her storm-gray eyes, like she’s been chased a thousand miles by ghosts.

After escaping the huge giant bullies at the school, Annabeth, Percy, and Tyson went to a summoned cab, the cab of doom to get to Camp Half-Blood. Those three lady drivers hahah Was such a funny moment when Percy realized they only had one eye IN TOTAL… And when they were fitting for their eye. Ah I loved that moment, Although I am not so sure Percy, Tyson and Annabeth liked that much… Ok Tyson I am sure he didn’t 😛

After surviving the taxi ride, they arrived at camp and found it being attacked by big bulls. The place was supposed to be warded by the tree, but it was poisoned. So anyone who isn’t a Half-Blood can now cross the borders, monsters included.

Now Percy and Annabeth have to not only find a cure for the tree, but also rescue Grover who has been asking to been visiting Percy’s dreams basically telling him he needed saving, and that “oh by the way, now that we are linked by this dreams, if I die, you die” that was a funny part too!

NEW IMPORTANT CHARACTERS

Tyson

“Percy: “You asked Poseidon for… me?”
Tyson: “For a friend, young cyclopes grow up alone on the streets, learns to make things out of scraps. Learn to survive.”
Percy: “But that’s so cruel!”
Tyson: “Makes us appreciate blessings, not be greedy and mean and fat like Polyphemus. But I got scared. Monsters chased me so much, clawed me sometimes-”
Percy: “The scars on your back?”
Tyson: “Sphinx on Seventy-second Street. Big Bully. I prayed to Daddy for help. Soon the people at Meriwether found me. Mey you. Biggest blessing ever. Sorry I said Poseidon was mean. He sent me a brother.”

I liked Tyson so, so much! He is basically a super big cute baby; he is strong yet sensible and adorable!!! And yes, a Cyclops. He is just probably the sweetest thing ever! He saved Percy many times, and always protected him like the friend he so much wanted to have and now has as a brother.

He caused me the best emotions ever!

PLOT DEVELOPMENT

This book again, has no dull moments, it was much faster than the first book but yet I have time to really understand everything.

SETTING

I LOVED again how he mixes the Greek mythology and America, and makes it sound so realistic, this time it especially amazed me the localization of the Sea of Monsters.

THINGS I LIKED

✔ Percy Jackson is awesome! He was special, but he isn’t perfect. He was a bit of a bad brother for Tyson but in the end you see he is has soft heart! And that he was just insecure, just like a normal teenager, that of course what’s is dad’s attention since he never had much (so he thinks)…

✔ I love Annabeth so much! For someone as young as her, she is responsible, tough, smart, and really kickass! It’s impossible not to love her! Right Percy? (maybe?…)

✔ There were a lot of cutesy moments between Anabeth and Percy. But nothing much, which I like since we just started! 😛 But it will soon happen!

✔ The chapter titles were again super funny.

✔ This book developed the characters a bit more.

✔ I really liked Hermes, Luke’s dad!

THE THINGS I DIDN’T LIKE

✘ I found Luke a weak villain on this book. He was a coward  with not strong enough issues with is dad, Hermes. I wonder if he turns more evil or if he sees how wrong and stupid he is…

FINAL WORDS

This series is easily becoming one of the series I would give priority in finishing. I loved the Sea of Monsters so much! The writing was amazing, and I loved the character and I can’t wait to meet more!

I think you would all love these books. Because they are amazing. They are exciting and smart and cute. I couldn’t stop reading 😀

Have you guys read the Percy Jackson series? What were your thoughts? 🙂

Author: Rick Riordan

Publisher: Puffin Books

Pages: 375

Format: Paperback

Percy Jackson is a good kid, but he can’t seem to focus on his schoolwork or control his temper. And lately, being away at boarding school is only getting worse—Percy could have sworn his pre-algebra teacher turned into a monster and tried to kill him. When Percy’s mom finds out, she knows it’s time that he knew the truth about where he came from, and that he go to the one place he’ll be safe. She sends Percy to Camp Half Blood, a summer camp for demigods (on Long Island), where he learns that the father he never knew is Poseidon, God of the Sea. Soon a mystery unfolds and together with his friends—one a satyr and the other the demigod daughter of Athena—Percy sets out on a quest across the United States to reach the gates of the Underworld (located in a recording studio in Hollywood) and prevent a catastrophic war between the gods.

If you haven’t read anything by Rick Riordan.. then what are you waiting for?!

The percy jackson series is an amazing collection of books! You’re really missing out.

Put the percy jackson series on the top of your tbr list. Like now.

The beginning of this book was a bit difficult for me, since it’s a mile grade book, and the principal character, Percy is a kid, I wasn’t feeling any connection with the book what so ever. I felt that he was too annoying and that I was not going to like the book..

BUT. I was so wrong. SO wrong. I LOVED THIS BOOK!

Of course it wasn’t perfect. It’s still a Middle Grade book and that’s why I shouldn’t compare the writing or the depth of this book to an Adult book or even a Young Adult book.

It’s too early to say but I think this might turn into a favorite collection of mine.

I love Rick Riordan’s writing, it’s simple and funny and you just want more!

!WARNING: review with SPOILERS ahead!!

THE CENTRAL IDEA

Percy Jackson don’t like trouble. But it seems that trouble always finds him.

See, bad things happen to me on field trips. Like at my fifth-grade school, when we went to the Saratoga battlefield, I had this accident with Revolutionary War cannon. I wasn’t aiming for the school bus, but of course I got expelled anyway. And before that, at my fourth-grade school, when we took a behind-the-scenes tour of the Marine World shark pool, I sort of hit the wrong lever on the catwalk and our class took an unplanned swim. And the time before that… Well you get the idea.

No matter how much he tries to be a good student, weird stuff just happened…

So just in the beginning Percy was literally  attacked by his teacher who he didn’t like that much and turned out that she was a monster. Wasn’t she? Can’t you remember?!…

Then weirder things started happening. His best friend, Grover, started being extremely paranoid to protect him, and he couldn’t understand why.
His mom finds out about the incident at school. SO she decided it was time to tell Percy why weird things happen around him.

“I tried to keep you as close to me as I could,” my mom said. “They told me that was a mistake. But there’s only one other option, Percy – the place your father wanted to send you. And I just… I just can’t stand to do it.”

His father wanted to send him to a summer camp. No… Not a normal summer camp.

Turns out… Percy is a half-blood. His father, who he has never met before, was actually one of the Greek Gods!

And this where his adventure starts.

THE MAIN CHARACTERS

Percy

If you’re a normal kid, reading this because you think it’s fiction, great. Read on. I envy you for being able to believe that none of this ever happened.

I really hated Percy at first. As I said he just seemed too annoying and I was not expecting that since I thought that a son of a god would probably be one of those perfect, could-do-no-wrong type of character. But then I realized that Percy wasn’t perfect (not even close).

He was a teenager with a temper issue. And also a trouble magnet that you’ll find out why with the progressing of the story. (So, I started to understand him better, and that was when I started enjoying reading the book! Because it just stopped bothering me.)

I loved his sarcastic moments. And how he really loves his mother.

Also, I loved how he was still himself even with the gods (Like with Ares).

Also the fact that everything he does and say is understandable in the story was very important to me; that he was not a spoiled brat that now knew he was half god.
Annabeth

“I’m afraid it’s because we’re getting closer to being dead.”

I really liked her! One of the best female character’s I’ve  read about.

She was strong but still vulnerable. She was extremely smart. But underneath that, she was a innocent girl broken by the people who were supposed to take care of her.

Grover

“As long as there’s a snack bar without monsters.”

He was a funny character. He was the funny accent to the entire adventure. And also like the others, later you understand why
he is doing the things he is doing.

PLOT DEVELOPMENT

This book has no dull moments (even the start was pretty unexpected because of that), there were some slower moments, but then the action comes back up again. The author lets the new information you get, sink in first and thats awesome for me.

SETTING

I LOVED how he brought the Greek Gods out of Europe and into North America. It was so believable. I started loving Greek Mythology and for middle grade book you learn so much!

THE WRITING

I am a big fan of the writing as I said. It’s just so simple and fun! Oh, and the chapter titles are just to die for!

THINGS I LIKED

✔ The characters were so realistic and awesome even the gods. They were so believable!

✔ I liked how the story developed.

✔ How the author used the Greek mythology in such a realistic way.

THE THINGS I DIDN’T LIKE

✘ That beginning was a bit difficult for me to get into…

✘ OK, someone stole a lightning bolt (how I don’t understand since gods are supposed to see and know everything even if they don’t interfere). You give the lightning back and it’s all okay; everyone believes in everything but at first, was so difficult to believe that it wasn’t Percy… (The movie in that part was 10 times worse)

FINAL WORDS

I love this book! And I highly recommend it! Don’t expect an adult or young adult type of book but if you don’t mind that the story is awesome!
