Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish in June 2010 out of a love of lists. It recently changed to That Artsy Reader Girl and that’s where you can find the topics for each Tuesday.

This week’s topic is:

Books I Loved but Will Never Re-Read

This topic was submitted by Brandyn @ Goingforgoldilocks.

This is quite a difficult question… If I loved the book I would probably re-read it if I had time for it. If I just liked it – well, that would be a different thing… But I will do a Top 10 books of around 4-5 stars, that wouldn’t be in my priorities to re-read for different reasons.

What are some books you loved but wouldn’t re-read? Why?

The Martian is definitely a book I wouldn’t grab for a re-read as soon as others. I loved this book and it’s extremely exciting and different. But because of that, it’s very difficult to forget (which is when I normally re-read) making it more difficult to grab for a re-read. Plus, Sci-fi is just not so much my genre, so, there’s also that.

Thirteen Reasons Why is a book I really liked. I gave it 4 stars, I think it’s gripping, interesting, emotional and important. But I don’t really see myself re-reading it? I can’t really point out the reason tho, so maybe I would? I don’t know, but definitely not in the near future.

The Screenplay for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is probably a book I wouldn’t re-read. I really loved it, and it was quite a different experience to read it. But I guess I would just go for the movie…

The Girl on the Train was a book I really enjoyed. It was exciting, creepy and addictive. But there are two reasons why I probably wouldn’t re-read it… I’ve read many of the same style (drunk female MC) so I’m just not very interested in it anymore. Plus, I remember everything in it and there’s nothing I like least than to read a thriller that will not get me thrilled.

Final Girls is a book that completely blew my mind and I would have never guessed the end in a million years. It was exciting, surprising and totally gripping. But like with the majority of thrillers, I just don’t feel like re-reading them… It’s hard to forget the plot twists and so, I don’t really see a point on re-reading them as much as, for example, a contemporary book.

The Gift and The Lost Children are books I don’t think I would re-read for the same reason as the previous…

The Pain Eater is an extremely hard-hitting book. I loved it but it’s not the easiest of reads for me and for that reason I don’t see myself re-reading it.

Me Before You is a book I absolutely loved but after knowing the story, and don’t really see a point in re-reading it. I might be wrong but I highly doubt I would grab for this one again…

And last but not least, Dear Martin is a book I really liked but… I don’t see myself re-reading it either. It’s a very important book and told in a unique perspective but I don’t think I would re-read it…

  1. I loved Final Girls too, it’s one of the best thrillers I’ve read and I didn’t see the twist coming at all. But I probably won’t reread it for exactly the same reason as you. When you know what’s coming, it’s not that thrilling anymore.
