A tale of fanfiction, family, and first love

 

I loved this SO MUCH!! I wasn’t expecting to love it as much as I did because I tried to read it once and I didn’t really pass the first pages but this time I was all up for it and I finally read it!

This book is so freaking cute and relatable! I really enjoy character-driven books because they often have the most relatable characters, plus they are well-developed and that’s the case with this book.

Our main character, Cath, is a very popular fanfic writer and she just started her first year at college and this book basically follows her experience through that first year.

She is a very introvert person, she is afraid of going out and talk to people. She doesn’t even give it a chance really. She’s basically antisocial and extremely awkward. For her, the best thing that can happen is to stay home writing fanfiction. And although I can’t relate to that part, I could relate to a lot of other things, like preferring to stay in the room eating instead of facing the awkwardness of the cafeteria or walking face down to avoid facing people and awkward moments. I think she was a really unique character and I loved reading about her!

Cath’s twin sister Wren is the total opposite of her and I really enjoyed reading about their differences and all they experienced. There were some rough and sad moments both with them and their family and they really touched me. 

As for Cath’s friends, I loved reading about them! I initially didn’t know what to think of Raegen but I learned to really enjoy her. I also really liked Levi! He did have some things I would have wanted to know a bit more about but overall I really liked him. He was incredibly sweet and I think he’s just perfect for Cath!

I actually enjoyed the pages with fanfic and parts of the books based on it. I think it was really creative and I liked how the pages had always the same feeling as the main story in those moments.

The writing is very easy and fast to read and I couldn’t stop reading! I really liked this book and it will be something I would totally love to re-read! I think I might even try to get some other books from the author (since this was my first one) and I am totally going to try out Carry On!
