First Line Fridays – 7 of July of 2023

First Lines Fridays is a weekly feature for book lovers hosted by Wandering Words. What if instead of judging a book by its cover, its author or its prestige, we judged it by its opening lines? This is originally hosted by Wandering Words.

Rules:
> Pick a book off your shelf (it could be your current read or on your TBR) and open to the first page
> Copy the first few lines, but don’t give anything else about the book away just yet – you need to hook the reader first
> Finally… reveal the book!

Hey everyone! Hope you’re all having a great Friday ❤️ So, this is an easy one, but it’s so compelling I can’t wait to start the book.

Welcome to my first ever WWW Wednesday. A weekly meme hosted by Sam over on Taking on a World of Words.

The idea is pretty simple, every week you dedicate a post to the three W’s:

I got this in my last book haul – here.

I’ve only read one book by the author before, which was The Soulmate Equation, and gave it 4 stars!

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

The rules:

  • Each Tuesday, Jana assigns a new topic. Create your own Top Ten list that fits that topic – putting your unique spin on it if you want.
  • Everyone is welcome to join but please link back to The Artsy Reader Girl in your own Top Ten Tuesday post.
  • Add your name to the Linky widget on that day’s post so that everyone can check out other blogger’s lists.
  • Or if you don’t have a blog, just post your answers as a comment.

This week’s topic is: Books on My Summer 2023 to-Read List

Here’s my list!

What about you guys?? Make sure you comment below your post or what’s in your bucket list for the summer! 😁 Also, do we have any books is common??😁

The Ex Talk by Rachel Lynn Solomon – Review

The Ex Talk by Rachel Lynn Solomon
Series: N/A
First published January 26, 2021
Genres: Romance , Fiction, Contemporary
Pages: 336
Format: Paperback
Buy: Amazon

Public radio co-hosts navigate mixed signals in Rachel Lynn Solomon’s sparkling romantic comedy debut.

Shay Goldstein has been a producer at her Seattle public radio station for nearly a decade, and she can’t imagine working anywhere else. But lately it’s been a constant clash between her and her newest colleague, Dominic Yun, who’s fresh off a journalism master’s program and convinced he knows everything about public radio.

When the struggling station needs a new concept, Shay proposes a show that her boss green-lights with excitement. On The Ex Talk, two exes will deliver relationship advice live, on air. Their boss decides Shay and Dominic are the perfect co-hosts, given how much they already despise each other. Neither loves the idea of lying to listeners, but it’s this or unemployment. Their audience gets invested fast, and it’s not long before The Ex Talk becomes a must-listen in Seattle and climbs podcast charts.

As the show gets bigger, so does their deception, especially when Shay and Dominic start to fall for each other. In an industry that values truth, getting caught could mean the end of more than just their careers.

Shay’s loved public radio for as long as she can remember due to her father. She has worked at the Seattle radio station for 10 years and has fought hard for her producer status.

Dominic has a Master’s in journalism from Northwestern University and quickly he becomes the station’s favourite, to Shay’s dismay.

The radio station is not doing so well, and is losing peoples’ interest. New shows must be pitched in an effort to reach out to new listeners.

Shay comes up with the idea of The Ex Talk, just as the name says, supposedly it would hold exes and talk about their lives before and after they broke up, giving advice for the listeners. What she didn’t expect was that her boss would make her and Dominic co-hosts. Lying co-hosts. And it’s either that or getting sacked.

Lauren and Ryan have been together for eleven years.

At first they’re madly in love. But just because a relationship starts off that way doesn’t mean it will automatically stay that way forever, especially when you let it go monotonous. It takes work. But they have been doing it all wrong, fitting and putting themselves first in all occasions instead of understanding each other.

When you get to this point, it’s really hard to go backwards.

That’s when Lauren and Ryan decide to take a year off from each other with no contact whatsoever, with the freedom to see other people.
